Every statue bears the cast signature of the celebrated animalier sculptor Jules Moigniez.
About the Artist: Jules Moigniez (French, 1835–1894) was an important French sculptor celebrated for his remarkably fine detailing and expertly applied patinas on bronze works. Despite being based in Paris throughout his active career, his dramatic wildlife subjects were immensely popular in England and Scotland. Over half of Moigniez’s total bronze production—consisting largely of game birds and majestic stags—was sold in Britain during the second half of the 19th century. He achieved prestigious recognition by exhibiting at the official Paris Salon over thirty times, where acceptance by the jury signified highest state honors and official validation of an artist’s talent.

Condition: Great. Beautiful display condition with full structural integrity and only slight traces of use and age. There is some minor lead oxide white corrosion buildup on the bronze surface that can be easily cleaned and polished away. Please see pictures for details.
